- Purpose
- Identify the minimum standards for pest control in warehouses
- Scope
- Applies to all warehouses.
- Description
- Shall maintain a documented pest control program that is in compliance with local legislation.
- Where chemical control (pesticides) are used for control of vegetation, rodents, insects and other pests:
- MSDS will be available for all chemicals used.
- Pesticides must be applied according to the label and as required by local legislation. Documentation of pesticides must include:
- Name of pesticide
- Date applied
- EPA registration number or equivalent ID in countries outside the US
- Lot number (where required by local legislation)
- Location and method of application
- Amount and concentration
- Name of applicator and license information
- Rodent control
- Toxic bait stations
- Shall be deployed only to the exterior of buildings and positioned along the exterior perimeter of buildings at 25 ft to 50 ft intervals.

- Cleaned an monitored monthly
- Bait changed according to label and as required by local legislation
- Interior traps
- Positioned along either side of exterior doors
- Cleaned and monitored weekly

- Pest activity trend reports provided by pest control provider
- Exterior insect control
- Effective control of crawling insects (ants, roaches, beetles, etc.) and flying insects (flies, mosquitoes, moths, etc.)
- Where applicable, effective control of stored product pests (Indian-meal-moth, red flour beetle, saw-tooth-grain beetle, etc.)
- Light traps that kill via electrocution shall not be applied in areas where food, food-ingredients, or food-packaging are stored, packaged, or processed.
- Insect lights must be positioned to prevent attracting exterior insects to the inside of the building
- Glass on insect lights must be covered with plastic to prevent shattering

- Insect activity trend reports provided by pest control provider
- Pest control providers
- Must show evidence of current licensure that is in compliance with local legislation.
- Employees of contracted pest control companies must show evidence of training and competency.
- Where local legislation does not require licensure, employees of contracted pest control providers must show evidence of competency. Examples of acceptable evidence include records of formal training, on the job training and examinations that demonstrate qualification to provide pest control services within a food facility.
- Where applicable, must show evidence of liability insurance.
- Must observe all food safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
- Annual review of company and employee shall be conducted to confirm compliance.
